Authentic Leadership with Dr. Chris Mathe

Dr. Chris Mathe is a psychologist, a clinical supervisor and therapist trainer, as well as a coach and leader of a psychoeducation and experiential personal growth group, Authentic Leadership Center. As my personal mentor for the past 10 years, I am thrilled to have him on the show.

In this episode, Chris shares about his own path to healing, which was the catalyst for his career change in his 40s. After being a business owner, corporate executive, and software engineer, Chris has dedicated the latter half of his life to helping people create real and lasting change.

His goal is to always ask, “why does this feeling or behavior make perfect sense?” rather than pathologizing symptoms. He looks to understand the part of self that creates this life pattern. At the end of the interview, Chris walks us through a guided Inner Critic meditation, a way to help bring compassion and understanding to the part of ourselves that often is the one beating ourselves up.
